The Best Gift You Can Give Your Family

Are you anticipating a wonderful holiday season spent with your family? Do you enjoy finding the perfect gifts for your children and your grandchildren? Are you still looking? We have a great recommendation for a gift that you should give your family. In fact, we believe it is the best gift you could ever give them. You should either consider completing a Florida estate plan or updating your current Florida estate plan.

Why have a Florida estate plan?  As a Florida senior, have you ever asked yourself the following questions?  If you were incapacitated due to an accident or surgery who would have the legal authority to pay your bills?  Who could handle your business affairs if you could not?  Who could make medical decisions for you? Should your adult children be in charge of your finances?  Will your retirement plans be able to support you as you age?

We often hear questions like those above, and more, from our clients and their family members. Based on our experience, when it comes to Florida estate planning, you need to know your estate plan will work when you need it to. Again, during this holiday season we believe a completed Florida estate plan is quite possibly the best gift you can give to your loved ones.

However, there is still more planning needed. While your Florida estate planning is a critical part of your health and well being, you need to know that there is a second planning component that should be addressed and completed as well. It is your elder law planning, which includes long-term care.  Are you aware that once senior adults reach the age of 70, the majority will need some form of long-term care.  Most of this care is not covered by Medicare and will fall on the Florida senior to pay for. With prior planning we can assure you it does not have to be this way.  Our office will work with you to not only create an estate plan but also a long-term care plan that can protect the estate plan you are putting in place and allow you to be able to leave a legacy for your family, no matter what the future holds.

We know this article may raise more questions than it answers.  We believe in a collaborative approach to helping our clients.  This means that our assistance does not end with just legal help.  We work closely with other senior providers to make sure all our clients’ needs are taken care of from start to finish.  Our mission is to make sure every family feels that they have been taken care of, have peace of mind and have someone to lean on during difficult times.
